Track Your Traffic-Ticket Case Through MyCase

After onboarding, MyCase becomes the central location for the client’s case information. It allows Mustain Law Firm and the client to keep communications, documents, invoices, court dates, and important decisions connected to the correct matter.

What You May Receive Through MyCase

Clients may use MyCase to receive or access:

  • Messages from the firm;

  • Filed pleadings and court documents;

  • Requests for information or documents;

  • Court dates and scheduling notices;

  • Invoices, receipts, and payment information;

  • Evidence or discovery that can appropriately be shared;

  • Negotiated offers;

  • Instructions requiring a client decision;

  • Disposition documents; and

  • Final compliance and closing instructions.

Important or time-sensitive notices may also be sent by email, text message, or telephone. MyCase remains the primary case record, so clients should keep portal access active and review messages promptly.

Common Case Stages

Every court uses different procedures, but a traffic matter commonly moves through some or all of these stages:

  1. Retained: The agreement and required payment have been received.

  2. Onboarding: The client completes intake and provides requested documents.

  3. Initial filings: The firm submits appropriate opening documents to the court.

  4. Court acknowledgment: The firm confirms the filing, setting, or procedural requirements with the court.

  5. Evidence review: Available discovery, records, and client materials are reviewed.

  6. Pretrial negotiation: The firm communicates with the prosecutor or other appropriate authority.

  7. Client decision: The client reviews an offer or receives advice about the next available step.

  8. Court proceeding: Counsel attends a required appearance, hearing, or trial.

  9. Disposition: The court enters the result.

  10. Compliance and closing: Remaining payments, classes, documents, or other conditions are identified before the file is closed.

Cases do not always move through these stages in a straight line. Court dates can change, negotiations can continue over multiple settings, and additional evidence or requirements may arise.

Client Responsibilities During the Case

To keep the case moving, the client must:

  • Keep telephone and email information current;

  • Review MyCase, email, and text messages promptly;

  • Respond to requests by the stated deadline;

  • Upload complete and legible documents;

  • Immediately report any new ticket, arrest, suspension, or licensing notice;

  • Preserve possible evidence, including photographs, video, electronic logs, receipts, and witness information;

  • Avoid contacting the prosecutor, officer, clerk, or court about the substance of the case without first consulting counsel;

  • Make required payments when due; and

  • Attend court unless the firm confirms that personal appearance is excused.

Status Updates and Case Developments

Traffic cases often include periods in which the firm is waiting for discovery, a prosecutor’s response, a court setting, or entry of an order. A lack of a new result does not necessarily mean the case has been overlooked. Clients may send a MyCase message when they need clarification, but should understand that the next meaningful update may depend on action by another person or institution.
